10 arrested, ten detained for ransacking JSW Office In Odisha’s Paradip

Jagatsinghpur: Police have arrested ten youths and detained ten others over their alleged involvement in ransacking the office of JSW Group in Odisha’s Paradip town.

While ten of the accused were apprehended yesterday, ten others were picked up by police from their houses late last night and detained for questioning.

Several youths had allegedly ransacked the office yesterday alleging non-fulfilment of job assurance by the company.  Members of Student Organisation of Biju Patnaik University (SOBU) had on October 15 staged a dharna, following which the firm assured them of providing jobs.

The students yesterday arrived at the office and vandalized furniture, computers and other articles. Later, they headed towards police station to file a complaint against the firm. However, 8-10 of the students were detained at the police station. Tension ran high as cops resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse other students.
