Acid attack on minor girl: Odisha police arrest one more accused

Berhampur, Sep 5:

Badagada police today arrested a person for his alleged involvement in the acid attack on a minor girl in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The accused was identified as Tophan Sahoo, an aide of prime accused Lipun Bisoyi who was arrested yesterday.

Notably, three miscreants entered the victim’s house at Gangpur village under Badagada police station limits on Saturday night while she was sleeping and after splashing acid on her, fled the spot.

The minor identified as Mamuni Bisoi (17) has been admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here. Her condition is stated to be critical, reports said.

Though the reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, the incident is suspected to be fallout of an one-sided love affair. Lipun had threatened Mamuni over phone a few days ago, police sources said.
