Das’s son and BJD MLA Pranab Balabantray informed that his father was admitted to Fortis Memorial Research Institute at Gurgaon on April 18 after profuse bleeding from his nose the previous day.

Later, on the advice of the ENT doctors, he underwent a nasal endoscopy, which revealed a small tumour between the forehead and inner nasal cavity. Later, the doctors conducted chemo therapy and kept him under observation for five days. During the observation, the sugar level of Das was found to be high.

“The doctors have informed that my father would undergo another round of chemo therapy and CT scan after which they would decide whether a surgery is required or not,” Balabantray said.

He, however, said there is no plan to take his father abroad for further treatment.

Meanwhile, Union minister and senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan and some BJD MPs have met Das at the hospital.

Das, who was discharged from the hospital on April 23, is presently staying at his official residence in New Delhi.
