Awareness programme on WASH organised

Around 40 participants from among village hygiene promoters, social mobilisers and Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) committee members participated in a community awareness programme on water sanitation and hygiene held at Kalapanchan, Nimapada in Odisha’s Puri district today.

The awareness programme on usage of safe and protected water, safe disposal of human excreta, personal hygiene-hand washing, food hygiene, safe disposal of solid waste, safe disposal of liquid waste, diarrhoea and its treatment practice was organized by Action Aid with support from European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO), said a release issued by Action Aid.

Representatives from partner organization, village committee members on Phailin response who were present among others discussed on the various measures on WASH to be taken in emergency situations like cyclone and floods, the release added.
