BJD councillor murder: Odisha cops take key conspirators on remand

Ganjam:  The Ganjam police today took the two key conspirators of Chhatrapur Councilor Laxmidutta Pradhan murder – Krushna Chandra Nayak and Duryodhan Reddy – on 7-day remand.

The SDJM Court here allowed the Ganjam police to take the accused on remand for a week for interrogation over sensational the killing of BJD leader.

Sources said, the duo will be mostly questioned over the involvement of politicians in the crime as they had earlier confessed State BJP leader Golak Mohapatra’s hand behind their escape soon after the crime on September 16.

A special team of the Ganjam police had arrested the two from Dheradun in Uttarakhand on Saturday.

Following the arrest, Nayak revealed in a video the name of Mohapatra, who had allegedly helped him to hide in Uttarakhand after the murder. The shocking revelation has given ammunition to the opposition parties particularly the BJD to target BJP.

Mohapatra, who is party observer for Ganjam, has refuted the allegation saying he doesn’t know all of them personally.
