Brown sugar seized in Odisha’s Jajpur; 3 held

Jajpur: Jajpur police today busted a brown sugar racket here in the district with arrest of three peddlers.

The accused persons were identified as Mantu alias Dilip Mohanty of Padmapur area, Sanjit Singh of Dala locality and Barisa Murmu of Rice meal area in Jajpur district.

The cops seized 10 gram brown sugar, a bike, two mobile phones and Rs 21,000 cash from their possession.

According to reports, the trio was actively involved in brown sugar supply racket in the district.

Earlier, Mantu, who is the prime accused in the illegal trade, had managed to flee posing himself as a journalist.

Several cases are already lodged at various police stations against three accused persons in connection with brown sugar smuggling.

A special squad was formed by directive of Jajpur SP Charan Singh Meena to bust the racket.

The investigation is underway to bust complete racket, informed Jajpur Road SDPO Kedarnath Sahoo.
