CMC Deputy Commissioner succumbs to COVID-19

Cuttack: Deputy Commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Biswanath Lenka today succumbed to the deadly Coronavirus while undergoing treatment at Aswini Hospital here.

Sources said Lenka was under treatment for the last 15 days. He is the first person from the CMC office who died of the virus. Lenka was also In-charge of Cuttack COVID Control Room.

After his demise, his body was taken to Satichoura crematorium for his last rites. CMC officials including Commissioner Ananya Das and other staff paid tribute to the departed soul at the crematorium.

Besides, several prominent personalities, Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena, Cuttack-Barabati MLA Mohammed Moquim expressed condolence over his demise.

Grieving his death,  MLA Moquim said, “Extremely saddened to hear about the untimely demise of young Corona Warrior Biswanath Lenka. My deepest condolence to his family and friends at this period of immense suffering. May his soul rest in peace.”
