Cyclonic circulation to form over Bay tomorrow; heavy rainfall alert issued for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Amid forecast of a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal under influence of a possible cyclonic circulation, the regional meteorological centre of IMD today issued heavy rainfall warning for several parts of Odisha.

According to IMD, a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over east-central Bay of Bengal around September 7. Under its influence, a Low Pressure is likely to form over west-central Bay of Bengal during subsequent 48 hours.

During the period, Odisha may witness intense spell of rainfall at various places over some districts.

The regional MeT has issued heavy rainfall and thunderstorm warnings for Odisha during next five till September 11 morning.

Warning: 

Sept 6-7: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Nabarangpur during the period.

Sept 7-8: Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput.

Sept 8-9: Heavy to very heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Koraput, Rayagada and Heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Khordha.

Sept 9-10: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Rayagada, and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Puri, Kendrapara Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Nuapada and Nayagarh.

Sept 10-11: Heavy to very heavy Rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Bargarh, Sonepur, Kandhamal and Rayagada.
