Delhi police picks up Odisha youth for cyber fraud

Bhubaneswar: The Delhi police today arrested one Sanmay Parida from Baramadhia village under Basta police limits in Balasore district on charges of online fraud to the tune of Rs 54,000.

The cops also seized 100 Aadhaar cards, 100 sim cards and a laptop from his possession.

As per a complaint lodged with Delhi police, the man had purchased goods worth Rs 54,000 from an e-commerce site and sent a fake payment receipt to the seller. On realizing the forgery, the company tried to contact him over phone, but the accused did not respond. Later, the seller lodged a complaint with Delhi police.

After initiating a probe, a team of Delhi police went to Balasore district and arrested the accused from Baramadhia village.

A case has been pending against him at Basta police station in the district.  Further investigation is underway, said police sources.
