Dengue spreads tentacles in Cuttack; 7 tested positive

Cuttack: With the onset of monsoon, mosquito-borne disease dengue seems to be spreading its tentacles in Cuttack district. Reportedly, while 14 persons were tested positive for the disease at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here today, seven of them are from Cuttack.

Sources said 58 blood samples were sent to the hospital for examination today out of which 14 tested positive for dengue.

The seven affected persons of Cuttack district are residents of Choudwar, Manglabag, Mahanadi Vihar, Manguli,Pradhan Pada, Niali and Harikina of Cuttack district. The remaining persons hail from Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh districts, said an official at the SCB.

As per reports, 14 districts across the State have been affected by the disease with Cuttack remaining on the top. So far 31 dengue cases have been reported from the district.

“While 18 dengue-affected persons are undergoing treatment at the SCB, two of them have been admitted to ICU,” said the official.
