Driving with earphones on proves fatal as youth crushed under train wheels in Puri

Puri: Triple riding and driving with earphones plugged in proved fatal for a youth after he was run over by Cuttack-Puri Passenger train at level crossing near Aragarh village in Puri district today. The two pillion riders also suffered critical injuries in the mishap.

The deceased has been identified as Prakash Jena of Nipur village in the district.

Reportedly, the three youth were travelling on a motorcycle this morning. While crossing the Aragarh level crossing, the passenger train rammed into the two-wheeler claiming one life. Prima facie, since the motorcycle rider was wearing headphones, he couldn’t hear the sound of the train coming that led to the collision.

On receiving information, Khordha Road GRP officials reached the spot and began an inquiry.
