The double-line work between Delang and Puri would be in place before the Nabakalebara, officials of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) said on Thursday.

Reviewing the progress of the high-priority project here, ECoR general manager Rajiv Vishnoi asked the concerned officials to put the project on the fast track and complete it well before time.

He also directed officials to expedite the other project works such as the upgradation of Puri, Khurda Road and Malatipatpur railway stations, road over-bridges (ROBs), limited height subways (LHS) and Khurda Road Station bypass for smooth train operations during the Nabakalebara celebrations.

The meeting revealed that the contracts for earthwork, major and minor bridges, electrification works for doubling between Delanga and Puri have already been finalized.

Besides, earth works between Delanga-Sakhigopal and Sakhigopal-Puri are underway while work on major bridges have started and are at different stages of progress.

Out of 29 minor bridges on Delanga-Sakhigopal section, 26 bridges have been completed and work on the other three bridges, is in progress.

Besides the doubling work, crucial ancillary activities are also in full swing.

The Railway ministry has given assurances to provide adequate funds in 2014-15 fiscal for the completion of the project, ECoR sources said.
