ECoR disinfects train coaches to contain coronavirus

Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway has taken the following decisions in a review meeting presided over by General Manager Vidya Bhushan on steps to be taken to handle and prevent spread of coronavirus.

(a) East Coast Railway has offered all assistance to state government to set up screening facilities at all the helpdesk at all important railway stations. All logistics will be offered to doctors of state government to set up screening facilities.

(b) Infrared thermometers for thermal screening will be made available at all important stations handling large number of passengers. DRMs of Khurda Road, Sambalpur and Waltair have been advised.

(c) Special emphasis on disinfection of trains coaches and toilets.

(d) Staff coming in contact with passengers at mass contact areas like booking and reservation offices are specially being sensitised. Same with Train Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs).

(e) Isolation/Quarantine facilities have been set up by all 3 Divisions of East Coast Railway.

(f) Railway officials who have travelled abroad in recent past have been screened and asked to be kept in isolation.

(g) Ambulances will be kept at all important and large stations to carry suspected cases to hospitals having facilities to handle Covid-19 cases.

(h) All DRMs have been advised to go for emergency procurement of items required for handling covid-19 cases.
