Eight dacoits from Bihar arrested in Odisha’s Rourkela

Rourkela, Sept 3:

In a special drive, Odisha police arrested six dacoits and their two associates following raids at different places in the Steel City on Friday night.

Police also seized 200 gms gold, 250 kg silver, one pistol, two bikes, eight mobile phones and other valuables from their possession.

The arrested dacoits have been identified as Prabhat Tiwari, Ashutosh Jha, Nabin Gupta, Shayun Say, Birsha Munda and Rajesh Singh.

The associates have been identified as Adhir Karmakar and Prahalad Prasad who were arrested on charges of buying stolen ornaments from the gang.

All eight members of the group belong to Bihar.

According to reports, the arrested dacoits were involved in seven dacoity cases under Raghunathpalli Police Station (PS), Sector 3 PS, Plant Site PS and Koida PS.

Rourkela police had planned to nab the gang, which was active in the city over the last one year and yesterday all eight members were trapped in the police net in the drive.
