Bhubaneswar, Mar 24:

Embarrassing the government employees and pensioners, who are waiting for getting revised salary and other allowances, the deadline of Fitment Committee has been extended by another two months to submit its report on the recommendation of 7th Pay Commission.

The panel, constituted by the Odisha government in November last year for implementation of 7th pay recommendation in the State, was asked to submit the report within four months.

However, the panel was given additional two months time to submit report by releasing a resolution by the Finance department yesterday.

With the development, the government employees and pension holders will have to wait more time to get revised salary and higher allowances under the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.

Notably, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had constituted a 6-member Fitment Committee headed by Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan to finalise various categories of salaries and allowances as per the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.

The state government has proposed Rs 47,466 crore in the 2017-18 budget of which Rs 22,000 crore has been allocated for salaries and Rs 11,313 crore for pension.

With the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, additional burden of around 5,000 crore will be put on the State Exchequer. The government is expected to hike 23% in the basic pay of the employees.
