Five injured in bus-dumper collision in Odisha’s Sundargarh dist

Five passengers of a bus were injured on Friday morning when the bus was hit by a dumper and overturned at Champajharan square on NH 143 under Chandiposh police station in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. Police have sent them to hospital for treatment.

Sources said at around 9.30 am on Friday morning, Rahi Bus, which was coming from Barkot to Rourkela, collided with a speeding dumper on  NH 143 coming from opposite site at Champajharan square, In a bid to avoid the collision, the driver of the bus took a sudden turn but still could not avoid being by hit by the dumper. Bot the vehicles overturned under the pmpact of the collision, eyewitnesses said.

After the accident, the driver of dumper ran away from spot. Five persons who were in bus were injured. After being informed by the local people, Chandiposh police reached the spot and sent the injured persons to hospital. Their health condition is reported to be stable now. Police have seized both dumper and bus from spot. They are now searching for the driver of the dumper to arrest him.

“We have seized both the dumper and the bus. Efforts are on to arrest the driver of the dumper,” said U.S.Naik, IIC, Chandiposh police station.
