Former Odisha DGP’s son Bitti Mohanty to walk free from jail on July 6

In a major relief to former Odisha DGP BB Mohanty, his son Bittihotra Mohanty alias Bitti Mohanty, a rape convict, will be released from jail on July 6.

Bitti Mohanty will walk free from jail on July 6 as the Rajasthan High Court rejected parole violation case, informed his lawyer Sarthak Nayak today.

Bitti Mohanty is currently lodged in Jaipur Central Jail in Rajasthan even after the Supreme Court had granted him a conditional bail on March 31 in rape case.

He had to stay in jail for another three months as the jail authorities refused to release him on bail.

According to reports, he was granted bail from the apex court in rape case, not in parole jump case.

Bitti had moved the Rajasthan High Court challenging the jail authorities’ decision.

Earlier, the Jaipur fast track court had ordered that Bitti will stay three months more in jail for jumping parole after spending seven years rigorous imprisonment in German woman rape case.

Bitti was arrested from Kannur in Kerala on March 9, 2013.

The tech student was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for raping a German woman tourist in Alwar in Rajasthan in 2006.

He was convicted by a fast track court in 2006. He was absconding after getting parole to meet his ailing mother. Later he was arrested from Kerala where he was working at a bank with a disguised name.
