Saila Ranasingh, the infamous ‘Lady Don’ of Haladipadia slum, along with her supporters allegedly attacked the members of a family this morning over some dispute.

At lease four persons sustained injuries in the pitched battle that ensued between the groups. The injured were sent to Capital Hospital for first aid, reports said.

“They rushed towards our house and started thrashing my brother. We had no enmity with anybody. They went on a berserk and continued with their offensive. I requested them to spare my brother, but they were were in no mood to relent,” said sister of one of the injured, Barsharani.

Meanwhile, six persons, including Saila Ranasingh, have been detained at the Laxmisagar police station for questioning.

We are questioning the detainees. Further action would be taken after investigating into the matter, a police official said.

It may be mentioned that Saila was released from Jharpada jail last Tuesday who was behind bars for the last five months for assault on Laxmisagar police. She was granted conditional bail by the SDJM court, Khordha on Monday.

The court had directed Saila to present herself at the local police station every Sunday and not to get involved in any criminal activity for at least two years.

It may be recalled here that Laxmi Sagar police had visited Haladipadia slum on June 8 after being informed that Saila and her associates were thrashing a youth mercilessly after tying him to a pillar. However, Saila and her associates attacked the policemen instead. Saila and her associates chased and thrashed the policemen black and blue.

Among the five policemen thrashed by the slum dwellers were inspector-in-charge (IIC) of the Laxmisagar police station Rajat Ray and Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Ashok Hansda.
