14 injured in bomb attack during group clash in Odisha’s Nayagarh; 2 critical

Nayagarh: As many as fourteen persons sustained grievous injuries and two of them became critical in a bomb attack during a clash between two groups at Kumbharpada village under Khandapada police limits in Nayagarh district, today morning.

The critically injured were identified as Ranjeet Naik and Dushasan Naik from Harijan Sahi. The injured include people from both the rival factions.

According to a source, a group led by Ranjeet hurled bombs at his rivals over past enmity. The clash erupted after a group passed derogatory remarks on the other. Following which, the second group hurled bombs led by key accused Ranjeet from Kumbharpada village.

The injured were initially admitted to a community health centre (CHC) in Gania. Two of them were later shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for better treatment.

On being informed, Khandapada police reached the spot and brought the law and order situation under control. A platoon of police force has been deployed in the village keeping in mind the palpable tension.

“We are keeping a strict vigil on the situation to avert any untoward incident,” a senior official said.
