Girl impersonating as journalist robs youth in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Little did he know that giving lift to a girl would be a lifetime lesson for him. A youth fell victim to a con woman in Odisha capital this evening as the latter robbed the former after taking lift on a two-wheeler.

The victim Saroj Kumar Nayak was coming on his motorcycle from Unit IV area when the robber identifying herself to be a television journalist stopped him for a lift. The unsuspecting youth gave lift to the girl and proceeded towards Unit II Market Building via Sachivalay Marg. However, the girl put a knife on his neck and asked him to stop the vehicle few metres away from BMC Keshari Mall.

Then, she robbed his wallet containing around Rs 5,000, ATM cards, driving license and other important documents.

The incident took place near the Old Bus Stand which is hardly few metres away from the Capital Police Station. Taking advantage of darkness, the girl vanished from the spot after committing the crime.

“I gave her lift in my vehicle as she told that she is a journalist. I had no idea that she is an anti-social element. She looted my wallet at knifepoint,” the victim said.

The youth filed a complaint with the local police station.
