“Professionals should join hands and take advantage of new technology to make the country globally competitive in all spheres”, eminent management expert Prof KC Sahu said here on Monday.

Speaking as the chief guest at the foundation day celebration of the Indian Institute of Industrial Engineering (Odisha Chapter) at the SOA University, Sahu said with the changing times and advent of new technology, a completely new situation had emerged in all areas.

The former professor of IIT, Kharagpur and Professor Emeritus at the SOA University now, Sahu said though resources were limited, imagination and creativity were not.

“It’s time that we should compete for the common good of all. Doctors must work towards elimination of disease and good health for all, though it will mean that they will not be needed if such a scenario emerged,” he said, adding it was also true of engineers or other professionals from myriad disciplines.

“Ultimately, the goal of each profession is self-annihilation,” he quipped.

Prof RP Mohanty, Vice-Chancellor of SOA University and President of the Odisha Chapter of IIIE, presided over the function. The function was also addressed by eminent professor and former Director of IIT, Kharagpur, Prof Damodar Acharya, who is presently the chairman of the Advisory Board at SOA University.

Among others, the chairman of the Chapter Prof RK Mishra and secretary Prof AK Behera also spoke.

Two prominent industrial engineers, Dr RM Patnaik and Dr PK Routray were felicitated on the occasion.
