GP workers roll on road in Odisha capital to register protest

Catching  media’s attention being of prime importance in any protest march or rally or dharna that is held at the Lower PMG square here in the Odisha capital, protesters have been offering pujas to shradhs to shaving of heads and what not to catch the media’s attention.

Members of the Gram Panchayat Karmachari Sangh (GPKS) adopted a unique method to register their protest against the state government’s indifference towards their demands as well as catch the media’s attention.

Members of the GPKS rolled on the road at the Lower PMG square to press for their demands which include regularization of jobs of class IV employees in gram panchayats, immediate disbursal of arrears pending since Third Pay Commission and others.

GPKS members had scuffles with the police while they tried to break the barricade in their march towards of the Odisha Assembly.

“We have earlier on several occasions drawn the attention of the government towards our demands but the government has turned a deaf ear. If the government fails to fulfill our demands in the coming days we will be forced to intensify our agitation,” said president of GPKS Kaushik Bodhisatwa.
