Guv Ganeshi Lal, on Haryana trip, flies back to Odisha amid Cabinet rejig speculation

Bhubaneswar: Amid speculation over Cabinet reshuffle in Odisha owing to the resignation of two ministers, Governor Ganeshi Lal, who had gone to his home state Haryana on a personal trip, will return the state capital at 8 pm today.

The Governor was supposed to return to Odisha on May 22.

“There is a change in the schedule of Governor’s personal trip to Haryana. The Governor will return to Bhubaneswar today. He will travel to Puri to participate in the inaugural ceremony of Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express tomorrow (May 18). The Governor will fly back to Haryana on May 18 and return to Odisha capital on May 22,” said a source.

Sources, meanwhile, claimed that some MLAs, who had travelled to Dubai in the inaugural direct flight between Bhubaneswar and the United Arab Emirates city, are scheduled to return to the state capital today.

Notably, Odisha Assembly Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha and two ministers—Samir Ranjan Dash and Srikant Sahu—had resigned from their posts a few days ago.

Dash was the School and Mass Education Minister and Sahu was the Labour Minister in Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s Cabinet.

Revenue Minister Pramila Mallick has been given the additional charge of School and Mass Education and Labour department by the Chief Minister.
