Bhubaneswar, Nov 11:

Decrying police inaction against some locals who molested a class VII girl student, the victim and her mother from Gaithipur under Balikuda police limits in Jagatsinghpur district on Monday sought the intervention of the State Human Rights Commission to ensure justice to her.

According to the victim’s mother Sabita Padhi, who has four shops at Gaithipur bazaar, her fellow villagers Jhatu Das, Bubu Biswal, Badal Biswal, Papu Biswal, Rama Biswal, Don Biswal among many others have been misbehaving with her and her daughter, who is studying in class VII after she lodged a complaint with the police against them in March this year accusing them and her cousin of trying to record her land in their names fraudulently.

“Since then, police are sitting on my complaint. Because of political influence, they are not taking any steps to nab them, giving them the chance to threaten me to withdraw my FIR”, alleged Sabita.

She further alleged that these anti socials have also been misbehaving with her school going daughter and even attempted to rape her once. “They are also threatening my husband and son saying they would eliminate them,” she said.
