Headmaster attacked, robbed of Rs 1.4 lakh by colleague’s hubby in Odisha’s Nabarangpur

Bhubaneswar: The headmaster of a residential school in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district was allegedly attacked and robbed of Rs 1.4 lakh by the husband of one of his colleagues today evening.

Victim Dhanurjaya Nayak, the headmaster of a residential school in Jharigaon area of Nabarangpur, was immediately rushed to a Community Health Centre (CHC) at Dabugaon in a critical condition, sources said.

Nayak was later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) after his condition deteriorated, sources added.

According to sources, Nayak had withdrawn Rs 1.4 lakh from two separate bank accounts of the residential school in the morning to meet certain expenses.

Nayak had kept the money with him. Binod Kumar Nayak, the husband of assistant teacher Shubhrangini Mahalik, reportedly urged the headmaster for a lift on his bike while the latter was returning his home in Dabugaon area around 5 pm in the evening.

Nayak, who was ignorant of Binod’s motive, offered him a lift. Binod reportedly urged Nayak to stop the bike at secluded place so that he could attend the nature’s call, sources said.

He allegedly hit Nayak’s head with a large stone once the latter stopped the bike near a cashew forest. Nayak sustained grievous injuries in his head and collapsed on the ground.

Soon, Binod took away the money from Nayak’s bag and fled the spot, sources added. However, no complaint in this regard was filed with police till the last report came in.
