Heavy rainfall likely to continue overnight in 10 districts of Odisha: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall is likely to occur in at least 10 districts of Odisha till tomorrow (October 7) morning, said the IMD regional centre here in its evening bulletin today.

The IMD has issued Yellow Warning of heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack, Rayagada, Angul, Koraput and Malkangiri till 8.30 am of October 7.

This apart, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the remaining districts of Odisha during the period, said the IMD in its evening bulletin.

The cyclonic circulation over coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighborhood now lies over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighborhood and extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level. The trough now runs from the cyclonic circulation over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighborhood to central parts of north Uttar Pradesh across Telangana, Vidarbha and West Madhya Pradesh and extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level, said the IMD.

As per the prediction, rainfall activities are likely to continue in Odisha till October 10.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at several places across the districts of Odisha on October 7, 8, 9 and 10. However, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Korapaut, Rayagada and Puri on October 9, said the IMD.
