Itishree murder: Two witnesses record statements in Odisha court

The third phase of recording of statements in the trial of the high profile murder case of Itishree Pradhan, a teacher in the Tikri primary school in Rayagada district of Odisha, began in the Rayagada District and Session Court today with two out of three scheduled witnesses recording their statements on the first day.

The two witnesses who recorded their statements today were Puspanjali Panda, an assistant teacher of Tikri School and Rayagada SDPO Y Jagannath Rao. The third witness, the doctor who treated Itishree at the Tikri PHC, could not come to the court today. The recordingof his statement has been rescheduled to February 6.

The recording of statements will continue for the next two days and six more witnesses will get their statements recorded.

“Today Puspanjali and SDPO Y Jagannath were produced in the court. Important documents had been seized from them. The Supreme Court of India, in the meanwhile, has handed over the investigation of the case to CBI. We have to wait and watch to see how far it progresses,” said Rajendra Kumar Sahoo counsel for Odisha Crime Branch.
