Law Commission in Odisha on the anvil

Odisha will soon have a Law Commission, informed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while speaking on the occasion of the launching of the Legal Front of the BJD here today.

The first state committee meeting of the BJD’s Legal Front was held at the party’s state headquarters here today which was inaugurated by Patnaik.

“I strongly believe that the BJD’s legal cell will further the process of providing socio-economic and political justice to the people. We are in the process of constituting a Law Commission to aid in the matter of legal reform and corroborative legislation relevant to the present day society. We are in the process of filling the physical gaps in legal infrastructure facilities especially in the remote areas of the state to further the speedy delivery of justice and to facilitate easy access to justice,” said Patnaik.

Highlighting on the state government’s intent for speedy delivery of justice and improvement of legal infrastructure in the state, Patnaik said: “We have added a new building for the Odisha High Court a year back and there is a proposal for further extension for proper administration of justice. About 17 district court buildings are being constructed on priority within a short span of time.”

Patnaik said the BJD Legal Front was a very positive step in the right direction.

“I believe very strongly that the formation of the BJD Legal Front is a very positive step in the right direction. I hope the BJD Legal Front will work hard in creating adequate legal awareness among the people,” the party supremo said.
