Bhubaneswar, July 17:

Commissionerate police (CP) today sent a team of officials to Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh state to arrest the two accused in the murder of a young liquor shop salesman at Aiginia on the outskirts of the Odisha capital on June 18 night, police sources said.

The accused are suspected to have left for the neighbouring state, sources said.

The decision to dispatch a team to Hyderabad was taken by the CP on the basis of the crucial information extracted from G Bishnu Prasad, a student of an engineering college in Jatni arrested on July 15,  during interrogation, a senior police official said.

“After interrogating Prasad, we came to  know the whereabouts of the other two accused. A team of police officials has been sent to Hyderabad today to map out the hide outs and nab the duo,” the official said.

Police identified the two other culprits as Santu Biswal of Khandagiri and Manoj Dalai of Jatni area. Dalai a hardcore criminal, who has many cases pending against him at various police stations in Khurda district, had fired on the salesman during an altercation on the night of June 18. The car in which the three culprits had come to the alcohol shop was being driven by Prasad, they added.

The culprits still at large were also involved in trading of ganja in the district, the police further added.

Notably, the three assailants, who had came in a car on June 18 night, gunned down the salesman Rakesh Kumar Sahu (25) as he was not able to produce change for Rs 1000 given by them to get alcohol.
