Man ends life at Odisha temple over ‘unfulfilled wish’

Dhenkanal: In an unusual incident, a person committed suicide inside a temple at Nuapatna village under Hindol block of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district last night reportedly due to unfulfillment of his wishes.

Body of Niranjan Sahu (35), the deceased, was found in a hanging state at the temple this morning. On being informed, police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.

According to reports, Sahu had been prostrating before the idols of the deities at the temple for the last 21 days praying for recovery from depression and illness.

Disheartened on getting no fruitful results after 21 days, Sahu decided to take the extreme step. After devotees and servitors of the temple left the place, he hanged himself with a piece of cloth inside the temple.

Police have started investigation into the incident.
