Man knocked to death by unidentified vehicle; locals block NH-53 in Odisha

One person was knocked to death by an unidentified vehicle at Sibulapasi under Kamakshyanagar police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Nabina Laguri, hailing from Chulia in Kamakshyanagar area.

According to reports, the vehicle hit Laguri at around 7 am when he was returning home from Kamakshyanagar hospital where his grand daughter is undergoing treatment. Laguri died on the spot.

Tension gripped the area following the incident as locals staged road blockade on NH-53 demanding compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the family of the deceased. Vehicular movement on Talcher-Jajpur road was affected due to the blockade.

The locals have demanded restriction on plying of heavy vehicles in the route between 8 am and 9 pm.
