Maoists, security forces exchange fire in Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: An exchange of fire ensued between Maoists and security forces at Gandhamardhan hills near Khaprakhol in Odisha’s Balangir district today.

Acting on a tip-off about presence of Maoists, CRPF and SOG jawans launched operation in Gandhamardhan hills last night, informed Balangir SP K. Siva Subramani.

“At around 9.30 am today, the naxals opened fire at the jawans following which the latter retaliated. Exchange of fire is on. After that, searching and combing will be conducted,” the SP said.

There were no reports of any casualties in the gunbattle.
