Miscreants loot 3 kg gold in Odisha capital

In a daring daylight heist, gold worth 2.9 kg was looted in Sahid Nagar area in the Odisha capital on Friday.

bike borne lootersAccording to reports, Mangaram, an employee of Mumbai-based gold trader Pradip Jain, arrived at the city railway station from Mumbai early on Friday carrying 2.9 kg of gold in a bag. He hired an auto-rickshaw and arrived at Baya Baba Math chhak from where he walked on foot to Bhawani Apartment at Sahid Nagar where Jain stays.

On the way, he was intercepted by three bike-borne youths who suddenly attacked him. As Mangaram tried to resist, one of the youths put a knife on his neck. The trio lsnatched his bag and sped away towards Bomikhal area.

Later, Mangaram informed the matter to Jain, who lodged a complaint with the Sahid Nagar police.

The police later took Mangaram and interrogated him at the police station.

Meanwhile, police have begun identification of auto-rickshaws and bikes from the video footage from CCTVs installed at Master Canteen and Ram Mandir squares.
