Bhubaneswar: The monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly began today with rich tributes being paid to departed leaders.

As the House assembled for the session, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved condolence motion over the demise of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, former Tamil Nadu CM M. Karunanidhi and svereal ex-members of the House.

The condolence motion was supported by Leader of Opposition & Congress member Narasingha Mishra and BJP legislature party leader KV Singhdeo.

Later, Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat adjourned the House till tomorrow as a mark of respect to the departed souls.

The 13th session of the fifteenth Odisha Legislative Assembly will have a total of 11 working days and conclude on September 20.
