Boudh, Aug 16:

In a barbaric act, a father and son duo hacked to death a woman and her daughter at Boorkata village in Khuntabandh panchayat in Odisha’s Boudh district on Friday over a property dispute, police sources said.

Both the accused are on the run, they added.

The deceased have been identified as Rajni Kanhar and Danda Pera, the sources said.

Officer in-charge of Boudh police station Amulya Kumar Dhar said Mutu Kanhar and his son Sanjay Kanhar of Boorkata village allegedly hacked to death Rajni Kanhar, wife of Pardeshi Kanhar (brother of Mutu Kanhar) and Danda Pera (daughter of Pardeshi Kanhar) over a trivial issue of deceased Rajni’s goats entering Sanjay Kanhar’s fields.

He said both the families had an old dispute over ownership of land.

Local sources however, said Mutu and his son Sanjay were angry over his brother (Pardeshi Kanhar) bequeathing his property in the name of his daughter Danda Pera.

The incident has cast a spell of gloom in the village with locals demanding immediate arrests of the culprits.

Police has launched a manhunt for the duo.
