Bhubaneswar, Sep 9:
Nandankanan Zoo authorities have decided to bring a pair each of Himalayan black bear and sloth bear from the Birsa Munda Zoological Park in Ranchi in a zoo-exchange likely to take place on September 13.
In return, the zoo authorities will give away a pair of hippopotamus and six birds- a pair each of Grey Heron, Night Heron and White Ibis.
“The new bears would help increase the species’ population in the zoo”, said Manoj V Nayar, deputy director of Nandankanan Zoo.
The new guests would be escorted by a team supervised by the Zoo’s Assistant Director Kamal Lochan Purohit.
