Newborn named ‘Chandrayaan’ in Odisha to mark India’s Moon mission success

Kendrapara: Amid celebration across the country for India’s Moon mission, a baby born at a hospital in Odisha during the auspicious period was named ‘Chandrayaan’.

Prabhat Mallick and Arati Mallick of Aripada village in Kendrapara district, the parents of a newborn, named their baby boy ‘Chandrayaan’ to mark the country’s success on the Moon mission.

According to reports, the baby was born at 6.04 pm on Wednesday (Aug 23, 2023) at Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) when Chandrayaan-3 was successfully landing on the Moon’s surface.

Following the birth of the baby, the family celebrated two major events — the baby’s birth and ISRO’s achievement of the Chandrayaan-3 landing. The doctors and other hospital staff also expressed their happiness over the coincidence.
