Heatwave: Red alert issued for Odisha’s Twin City today

Bhubaneswar: With the heatwave conditions prevailing across Odisha, the IMD issued a red alert for the state’s twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for today.

According to Bhubaneswar MeT, the heatwave conditions are likely in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar cities today.

Day temperature in Bhubaneswar broke records in April with 44.6 degree C by 2.30 PM today, becoming the hottest place in Odisha. Total 8 places including Bhubaneswar stood above 40 degree C. Jharsuguda at 43.6 degree C, Rourkela 42.5 degree C, Chandbali 42.4 degree C, Sambalpur 42.1 degree C, Hiarkud 41.8 degree C, Balasore 41.7 degree C, Keonjhar 41.5 degree C.

Besides, the red alert has been issued for several districts for next four days.

April 28: Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions very likely to prevail in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Khurda, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Nuapada.

April 29: Heatwave to severe heat wave condition very likely to prevail in the districts of Mayurbhanj,Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Cuttack, Khurda.

April 30: Heatwave to severe heat wave condition very likely to prevail over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Nuapada.

May 1: Heatwave to severe heat wave condition very likely to prevail over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bolangir, Nuapada.

The IMD predicted that the heatwave conditions are likely to continue across Odisha till mid-May.
