NGT gives nod for Bali Jatra in Odisha’s Cuttack, issues guidelines

Cuttack: National Green Tribunal today granted nod to the district administration for the historical Bali Jatra with a set of guidelines.

Cuttack administration has been given permission to organise Bali Jatra approximately 50 metre away on the Mahanadi river bank.

As per the NGT order, the Bali Jatra will be held in an area of 43 acre with total 1,400 stalls.

However, the tribunal has issued guidelines prohibiting the use of plastic bags and items during 7-day long event.

Focusing on the waste management and cleanliness, the NGT has directed the district administration to widen the public awareness about keeping the venue clean.

The administration was also asked to submit a detailed report before the NGT after conclusion of Bali Jatra.

The historical Bali Jatra that commemorates the maritime glory of Odisha will kick off from November 4 in the silver city amidst security.
