Odisha CM condoles Malkangiri blast victims

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today condemned the action of the CPI (Maoist) in which three BSF personnel and a civilian were killed in Sarkubandha reserve forest area under Chitrakonda police station of Malkangiri district.

Naveen PatnaikCondoling their deaths in the Odisha Assembly he said: “Our heart goes out to the members of the bereaved families.

He said under the existing provisions of the Ministry of Home Affairs the family members of the martyrs shall receive Rs 15 lakh as ex-gratia and Rs 10 lakh as Insurance payout and liberalized family pension. The injured shall receive adequate ex-gratia.

“The state government shall provide Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased civilian Hari Khilla of Tatmarnguda village,” Patnaik added.

The Chief Minister said all the six injured commandos have been shifted to Vizag for better treatment and director; Intelligence and I. G. (Operation) have rushed to the site to coordinate operations.

“This ambush was targeted at BSF with an intention to stall the construction of the Gurupriya bridge which will link the cut-off areas with the mainstream. We will spare no efforts to complete this bridge,” Patnaik told the House.
