Swain was arrested by the CBI on September 5 after two days of intense interrogation at the CBI office for his alleged links with the Artha Tathya (AT) Group, a major player in the multi-thousand crore chit fund scam in Odisha.

Sources said the CBI has found substantial evidence about his complicity in the dubious business transactions of Artha Tatwa (AT).

The Special Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of the CBI here had already rejected his bail plea twice: on September 6 and 20 and had sent him to judicial custody.

On September 6, the same court had rejected the bail plea of Swain and allowed the CBI to take him on a 14-day remand to interrogate them in connection with the multi-thousand crore chit fund scam in Odisha. He was denied bail again when he was produced before the court on September 20 at the end of his remand period.
