Odisha Crime Records Bureau wins NCRB trophy for innovative IT project

Bhubaneswar: Odisha State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) has won the National Crime Records Bureau’s (NCRB) running trophy for empowering police with information technology at All India Police Duty Meet (AIPDM)-2023 in Bhopal.

The SCRB was awarded with the trophy for its Special Report (SR) module management system, said a senior official.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the SCRB for winning the coveted trophy, he added.

The AIPDM is an annual event organised by the Indian police forces to promote and improve the physical fitness and professional skills of its personnel. The event comprises various competitions including computer awareness, innovative IT projects, development of application and IT modules, physical training, weapon handling and tactical exercises.

The AIPDM provides a platform for police officers to showcase their proficiency and expertise and to learn from their peers. The event also helps foster camaraderie and esprit de corps among the police forces, said the official.

The AIPDM is usually attended by top-ranking police officers, including the Director Generals of Police and other senior officials from various states and union territories. The event is an important aspect of the Indian police forces’ efforts to enhance their capabilities and provide better service to the citizens.

As per the request of NCRB Director, DIG (SCRB) Satyajit Naik gave a presentation on the SR Module before a committee in New Delhi on February 8. The NCRB panel evaluated the IT project and declared it as the best among the states and Union Territories, said the official.

SR Module is a comprehensive and integrated application platform for SR case supervision on a real time basis in an online mode, which will also help in the efficient investigation, prevention and prediction of crime through efficient utilisation of available data in the police system.

It provides enhanced tools for investigation, crime prevention, sharing of data on a real-time basis and improved service delivery to citizens, said the official.
