Odisha docs to go for monthly review of patients’ death in Capital Hospital

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to improve facilities provided to patients admitted to the Capital Hospital here, the authorities directed the heads of all the departments for monthly review of deaths occurring in the hospital.

At a meeting held at the Capital Hospital on Thursday to review the patients who are taking their last breaths under treatment, the authorities emphasized on the basic facilities provided to the patients in the hospital since the day of their admission till death.

The hospital has been asked to lay emphasis on the condition of the patients who are being brought to the hospital for treatment rather than asking their addresses, said Capital Hospital Director Dr CR Das.

It is upto the doctors to accept the patients according to their conditions whether critical or not. If a patient dies in the hospital, the doctors will look into the cause and mistakes that led to death of the patient, Dr Das said.

By monthly review of the death of patients, the treatment provided in the hospital will be improved, he added.

Notably, around 100 patients die every month in the hospital while undergoing treatment.
