As per the announcement made by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for infrastructure development of Central Instrumentation Centre (CIC) in Utkal University, the State Higher Education department has approved Rs 13 crore for purchasing instruments in the varsity.

Total 16.40 crore has been estimated for the CIC. The remaining Rs 3.40 crore will be spent from Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) fund, informed Higher Education Additional Secretary Ajay Kumar Mohanty to Utkal University Vice Chancellor Prof A.K Das yesterday.

The government will provide Rs 13 crore in second phase for purchase towards instruments required at the CIC. The second phase amount will be provided after four months of first phase approval. The varsity authorities will submit report to the state government in every three month about instrument purchase and work progress of the construction.

A week ago, CM Patnaik had announced to grant Rs 15 crore for making CIC fully functional at the university. Gracing the annual function of students’ union in Utkal University on April 28, he assured the students to take necessary steps with regard to their requirements proposed to the government.

With establishment of the CIC at the varsity, the instruments related to physics, chemistry and zoological science can be used by the students at the centre.
