Odisha govt to provide security for tribal hostel girls: CM

The Odisha government has taken adequate measures to provide security to tribal girl students staying in hostels, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here today.

saragi phulaInaugurating the Saragi Phula-2014, a state level festival of SC and ST student, organised by the SC and ST Development department at the Adivasi Exhibition Ground here, the Chief Minister said that the state government had created 3000 posts of matrons for existing tribal girls’ hostels in the state who would be appointed very soon.

He said the state government had taken steps to raise the level of education among tribal students in the state through various programmes.

Among others, SC and SC Development minister Lal Bihari Himirika, minister of state for Textiles and Handlooms and SC Welfare Snehangini Chhuria, minister of state for Sports and Youth Services and ST Welfare, Sudam Marandi and Unicef Odisha chief Yumi Bae also spoke on the occasion.

Tribal students of several schools managed by the SC and SC Development department are participating in the festival.
