Odisha: Infant dies after being struck by father’s stick in Keonjhar

Anandpur: In a tragic incident, an eight-month-old girl died after allegedly being ‘accidentally’ struck by her father’s stick in Saunti Sahi area of Anandpur municipality in Keonjhar district today.

While the accused, Sanatan Dehuri was engaged in a quarrel with his elder brother Ranjan Dehuri over some issues, wife of Sanatan carrying the child tried to stop her husband. In a fit of rage, Sanatan carried a stick and moved towards his elder brother to hit him. But the stick accidentally struck the baby injuring him critically.

The girl child was immediately rushed to the Anandpur hospital. As her condition continued to be critical, she was referred to the SCB hospital. But she succumbed on the way to the SCB hospital.

After receiving information, police reached the spot and initiated probe. Reportedly, father of the child has been absconding following the incident occurred.
