Odisha kidney sale: Home dept submits affidavit

The Home department on Friday submitted its affidavit on the kidney sale incidents Cuttack city to the Odisha High Court.

High-CourtThe affidavit, submitted before a division bench of the court comprising Justice AK Rath and Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi, has stated about the two cases registered by the commissionerate police and the arrest of some of the accused.

Besides, the state government has also talked about the ongoing investigation into the incident.

The next hearing of the case is scheduled on August 8.

It may be mentioned that the High Court has filed a case suo motu following reports about the incident published in the media.

The court, in its previous hearing, had asked the state government to submit an action taken report (ATR) in this regard and appointed senior lawyer Ayodhya Ranjan Das as amicus curie.
