Odisha prohibits vulgar performances during Jatra, Melody Show

Bhubaneswar: The Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department of the Government of Odisha has prohibited vulgar and objectionable performances during Jatras and Melody Shows in the state.

The department has written to all Collectors and SPs directing the officials to take action against the violators.

“It is being noticed nowadays that vulgar dance, double-meaning lyrics and acting are being performed on Jatra and Melody stages. Consequently, people are finding it uncomfortable to watch these with family members,” the department said in the letter.

It directed the Collectors and SPs to take necessary actions for stopping such performances.

The department has asked the officials to mention about the restriction while issuing permission for Jatras and Melody Shows.
