Odisha Forest official caught by Vigilance with unaccounted cash of over Rs 1 lakh

Koraput: Surjit Kumar Sahu, Forest Range Officer, Lamtaput, Koraput was caught by the Vigilance with unaccounted cash of more than Rs 1 lakh, last night.

According to official sources, a team of the anti-corruption agency intercepted Sahu at Koraput town while he was heading towards Bhubaneswar in an SUV.

The official was found in possession of Rs 1,05,000 in the form of cash. As Sahu could not account for the money satisfactorily, the amount was recovered from him and seized by the Vigilance.

Following the interception, the agency conducted simultaneous searches at Sahu’s office, his residential quarters at Lamtaput and family residence at Bhubaneswar on suspicion of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Further probe was underway.
