Odisha shelter home shame: Chargesheet filed against prime accused

Cuttack: The Dhenkanal Police today filed chargesheet in the Orissa High Court against Fayaz Rahman, prime accused in the sexual harassment of girls at a shelter home in Dhenkanal.

On the other hand, hearing on the bail plea of Rahman will take place in the High Court tomorrow. He had moved the High Court on December 19, last year seeking bail.

Rahman, head of ‘Good News India’ NGO that ran the shelter home at Beltikiri in Dhenkanal, was arrested on December 2 in connection with the sexual harassment case.

District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Anuradha Goswami had lodged a complaint against the shelter home at Sadar police station. Sources said the shelter home was operating for the last two years without registration under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

The shelter home has already been sealed by the district administration.
